Norstone Financial Corporation is a merchant bank which invests in free-standing and fully staffed enterprises to enable them to grow and prosper. Steven holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University and is a Certified Public Accountant. A executive and entrepreneur, Steven began his career in 1966 as Controller of the Alarm Division of Chubb Industries in Canada where, within three years, he was promoted to Vice President and General Manager.

In 1974 he co-founded Dicon Systems (later renamed Dysys Corporation), a manufacturer of smoke and gas alarms. Dicon was the preeminent recipient of the Canada Export Award in 1984. By 1985 Dicon had grown to be the world's third largest manufacturer of residential smoke alarms and that same year was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

He founded Norstone Financial in 1975 as his personal holding company; by 1995 it had grown and evolved to become a merchant bank.

In addition to his work with numerous private companies, Steven has served as a director of several publicly traded corporations, including Dicon Systems Inc. (1985-1992), BioScrypt Inc. (1992-2002), Glendale Corporation (1996-2000), Cipher Pharmaceuticals (2007-2009), CML Healthcare Inc. (1996-2013).
